Answers To Common Questions
How do I find out which AP (Advanced Placement) or CLEP (College Level Examination Program) scores transfer?
Once you have selected your "transfer to" college or university, search for CollegeBoard AP/CLEP in the "Find Transfer College by name" search box. If CollegeBoard AP/CLEP does not appear as an option, refer to the college/university "Transfer Resource Links" or visit their website.
How do I find out which ACE (American Council on Education) scores transfer?
Once you have selected your transfer to college or university, search for American Council on Education in the "Find Transfer College" by name search box. If American Council on Education does not appear as an option, refer to the college/university "Transfer Resource Links" or visit their website.
I am an adult returning to college. Will the credits that I took from a Nebraska college or university in the past transfer?
Sometimes courses change. Transfer Nebraska includes catalogues from the past and equates them to current courses so that you can see if your courses can still be accepted for transfer.
Will credit from the dual credit course I took in high school transfer?
A dual credit course is a college course offered to high school students for both college and high school credit. It may be online, face to face, or on a high school or college campus depending on the agreement among institutions.
The college or university course title and number will be required to determine how your credit will transfer. Follow these steps: 1) select the college or university from the pull-down list to which you would like to transfer 2) select the college or university from which you received credit through a dual credit course and 3) select the course taken to determine transferability. If the course you took transfers to a Nebraska college or university, the transferability will be indicated.
What do the Begin and End dates listed with each transfer course mean?
The begin and end dates refer to the start and end of an equivalency. If the spaces are blank, the equivalency is valid for as long as the course has been or is offered. If populated, the equivalency is valid only during the timeframe of the begin and end dates.
What does Elective Credit mean?
Elective credit is a term used to inform the user that the course has been evaluated but a direct one to one equivalency could not be established. The credit will transfer but it will not have a direct match.
What does No Transfer Credit mean?
No transfer credit is a phrase that tells you the course was evaluated but there was no equivalency match found. The credit will not transfer.
What does it mean when an equivalency is listed with a subject code followed by "1XX, 2XX, 3XX, or 4XX"?
A number followed by XX means the class will be transferred as an elective within a particular subject area at the level indicated. 1 – first year, 2 – second year, 3 – third year, 4 – fourth year. This is used if a course does not have a direct equivalency but could count toward a degree requirement.
What are Units?
Units are used to determine the number of credit hours awarded for a course. Units may be in semester or quarter hours depending on the college or university.
What if I am interested in transferring to a Nebraska college or university not included on the pull-down list?
Currently, the “I want to transfer to” pull-down list includes only Nebraska colleges and universities that have chosen to display information on the Transfer Nebraska website. If you have college or university credits that you would like to transfer to a Nebraska college or university that is currently not represented, you will need to contact the institution directly or visit its website for more information.
What if a course that I took at my institution doesn't show up in a campus Transfer Articulation Guide or Transfer Guide?
Some courses may not have been evaluated yet for transfer/credit at the institution to which you are interested in transferring. If you don’t see a course eligible for transfer to the college or university you would like to attend, submit your transcript for consideration. Transfer agreements are developed and added to the website regularly.
You should contact the institution you want to attend to verify whether the course(s) you have completed can be accepted for specific course credit. Contact the office listed on the College Contacts page to discuss your specific course.
