Transfer Nebraska History

The Transfer Nebraska partnership is a statewide transfer credit system—providing students with a path to more easily transfer their existing college credits between colleges and universities. It offers information about which courses might transfer to other institutions, including towards a bachelor’s degree at four-year college or university in Nebraska.

Transfer Nebraska was created in 2014 as a partnership between all Nebraska’s public institutions of higher education—including the community and tribal colleges, state colleges, and the University of Nebraska. Since then, four private institutions have also joined Transfer Nebraska.

From Transfer Nebraska’s inception in 2014 to January 2021, nearly 280,000 course equivalencies have been reviewed and approved by public institutions in Nebraska.

A recent national study predicts that 38 percent of all college students will transfer at least once before completing a bachelor’s degree. Making that path easier is critical.

Transfer Nebraska makes higher education more affordable and accessible, helping students identify potential course equivalencies so they can avoid retaking similar classes—ultimately helping them graduate on time with less debt.

Together, Nebraska’s colleges and university are committed to retaining and graduating students who are enrolled in higher education.

The Transfer Nebraska partnership expands pathways to college, to timely graduation—and finally, to jobs here in Nebraska.
